Whoever thinks Las Vegas is only for adults has not had the pleasure of seeing Gregory Popovich’s Comedy Pet Theater at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile V Theater in Las Vegas. For an hour, my nephew laughed out loud as Popovich presented his well-trained animals doing very “people-like” acts on stage. For example, the audience loved when a dog pushed a cat across the stage in a baby stroller. Popovich is a professionally trained circus performer, who has appeared in People Magazine and on numerous talk shows. He was awarded “Circus Performer of the Year” in Las Vegas 2009, and this show definitely presents why.
He juggled, presented himself as a clown, and acted in many skits with his animal “cast.” The animals, consisting of cats, dogs, rats, ferrets and more, were all adopted by Popovich in shelters and then trained by himself to be part of the act. As an adult, before seeng the show, I thought this might be amateurish, but my family and I were laughing along with my nephew as dogs sat in school desks and added math problems, conducted a train, and more. You can tell the love that Popovich has for his animals because they are given “treats” after each “trick.” This was a professional circus type act that had the audience interested from the beginning. You need to see “talking” dogs in Vegas. This was the activity my nephew enjoyed most on our trip..He kept saying “Do you believe they made the dogs talk?” Popovich made that seem possible. Too bad my dog doesn’t talk. Oh wait, I don’t have a dog.
