In the music industry, publicists, journalists and bloggers often compare new artists to established older or semi-new ones as a point of reference. Some see that as a band thing, but not rising pop star Natalia Kills. How could she be offended? She’s been told she resembles uber hot Nicole Scherzinger and dubbed the next Lady Gaga. “It’s nice to be compared to really successful women in pop. It’s nice that they see huge potential in me,” the singer/songwriter and actress born Natalia Keery-Fisher said in an interview earlier this month. Continue reading
Me like. I’ve heard comparisons to Lady Gaga. I’m fine with that. She should be, too.
Download this dude’s song here. It sort of has an Elvis Costello vibe with less beard.
“A Song For A Son” is now available from the band AKA Billy Corgan and Some Jabronis on the SP website. Click here to – don’t stop, get it get it!
Get the song here. Get their album next week. It’s gouda.
Jeff Kessel aka Rifle Recoil has covered Outkasts’ “Prototype.” It’s trippy folk fresh. Get it.
Brooklyn-based Clare and the Reasons’ second album “Arrow” is out Oct. 20. Get their first single “Ooh You Hurt Me So”. Now. It’s friggidity good.
Electric Tickle Machine’s debut album, “Blew It Again” is coming in October. Sadly it only sounds far away. In any event, if this band’s single “Part Of Me” (clap clap!) is any indication – well, crap doggone it – they gonna be big. Was that English? Who knows. What I do know is this is an infectious song that makes me wish the Clapper were still around, and if so, still had those commercials where the old couple clap before they go to bed. Anywho, download single here.
Way Out West are The Neptunes in Bristol except way more prog and house. Listen to “Ultraviolet” here and enjoy. Totally unrelated, “Spanglish” wasn’t a very good film.
NYC singer/songwriter Tim Williams is releasing his second album “Careful Love” in October. If the album cover is any indication, it’s going to be great. Anyways, check out an acoustic version of “Bruises” off his EP “I Hit Another Wall.” This guy is frickin awesome.
SUNBEARS! may have the best name for a group ever. I mean I’m just singing Duran Duran’s “Wild Boys” in my head, and just replacing it with Sun Bears. It’s fun – try it. Anywho, this indie electro pop duo from Jacksonville, FL (Black Kids country) are swell. Their EP “Dream Happy Dreams” is loverly. Check out “I’m Alive” off that album here.
Zambri’s “Bang For Changes” Limited Edition EP is available at their shows. Get their infectious single “Easier” here. Sounds like Elastica’s gone 80′s by way of 2000s. Loving it, and that’s not a McDonald’s reference.
I’m a big fan of these guys and it’s not just because they have some old dude with a mustache on their album cover. Check out their new song “Safe for the Time Being” here.
