In 1995, soul singer Joan Osborne cut through the plaid shirts and grunge with her epic first single “One of Us.” That track — as well as the album (“Relish”) it was featured on — propelled her to great heights in the industry. Osborne was nominated for six Grammys and on the basis of that song and album (no one-hit wonder, by the way — check out cuts “St. Theresa” and “Right Hand Man”) she’s enjoyed a fruitful career since releasing acclaimed albums and sharing the stage with music royalty from Bob Dylan to Luciano Pavarotti.
On Sunday, March 20, the Kentucky native will perform an acoustic set with her pianist, Keith Cotton, at the Ridgefield Playhouse. I asked Osborne about the tour, her next album, and yes, what if God was one of us.

I’ve already told you about UK rising star Gary Go. If you’re not convinced he kicks ass, download his amazing cover of Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” here. Incredible.

Glasvegas – Please Come Back Home
Glasvegas is a current favorite band on the site – somewhere between say The Ting Tings and The Four Tops. Let me break this post up by saying if some hybrid of those aforementioned groups could be formed, I’d wet my pants but in a good way. Anyway, Glasvegas’ album is out in January but for now check this awesome holiday track off their Christmas EP.
