As Season 10 of “Dancing with the Stars” kicks off 3/22..so far only one professional dancer seems to be making up for this season’s loss of Dmitry Chaplin and Jonathan Roberts: Damian Whitewood. The former hairdresser turned dance pro has been tearing up the scene in the smash “Burn the Floor” with DWTS regulars Kym Johnson and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Paired with Pamela Anderson for his inaugural season, Damian’s credits including finshing as a semi-finalist at the Blackpool International Championships in the UK as well as touring with music legends James Brown,Shirley Bassey, and yes, Deep Purple. I look forward to seeing what this Aussie babe can do to the ladies.

An unknown fact about me-William Shatner gives me the heebies. Chris Pine is able to make my fear of the Priceline Negoitator go away for a while. On May 8, Pine will take on the persona of James Tiberius Kirk:the early years in the J.J. Abrams penned “Star Trek”. The son of a Hollywood acting couple (Dad was best known for his work on “CHIPs” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”); Chris was previously seen as the male counterpart to Lindsay Lohan in the epic fail “Just My Luck” and attempting to fight off his feelings for Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway in “The Princess Diaries 2-Royal Engagement”. He also is an UC-Berkeley grad. Coming up for the 28-year old is the indy film “Small Town Saturday Night”, directed by Ryan Craig.
Mike Fleiss of “The Bachelor” fame is bringing a new reality show to TV Land called “The Cougar,” an eight-episode series where young men compete for the love of Stacey Anderson, a 40-year-old successful realtor from Scottsdale, Arizona. The show premieres April 15, and is hosted by Vivica A. Fox. Somewhere, Chris Harrison weeps.

I’m going to jump on the bandwagon..I want to see the Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire.” The plot fascinates me; Danny Boyle has intrigued me ever since “Trainspotting”; and then we have the hero of the day: Dev Patel. The British-born actor has made a name for himself over these past few months and at 18, has kicked the proverbial successful newcomer door down and has not looked back. The actor may have gotten his start on the E4 TV drama “Skins” – but ironically it was five years ago he was a medalist at an international martial arts tournament in Dublin (he’s got a black belt in Tae Kwon Do).

Whose hearts leaped into their mouths during the last minutes of the big game Sunday night? Mine did. Not because the team that beat my beloved Eagles were possibly going to continue their Cinderella season, but because Number 11 kept on surprising me throughout the playoffs. The 25-year-old former ball boy for the Minnesota Vikings (and standout for the University of Pittsburgh) scored two TD’s to set up the greatest comeback in the history of the Super Bowl. Philosopher. Theologian. Great Pumpkin-worshipper. Who wouldn’t want to have Linus Van Pelt as a member of their family? As the holidays draw closer, let’s take time to remember the oft-totured younger brother of Lucy. Linus is never without his trusty security blanket..which can be used as a whip. If you never saw his monolouge in A Charlie Brown Christmas – please watch (see clip above). It is he who indeed reminds us all what Christmas is all about. And it is not trampling innocent people over a Plasma TV on sale. It’s several of many holiday traditions I will never outgrow. Plus look at him..isn’t he the cutest thing?

Why didn’t I hear of this guy until recently like within the past 24 hours? OK, that’s a little extreme; I knew the song “New Shoes,” but an acquaintance sent me a link of his song “Last Request.” That was it. Not since Jeff Buckley did I want to know all there was to know about a singer. The basics: he’s Scottish-Italian (cha-ching..and we cougars love our foreign men), has been a roadie, and can go ahead and say “I performed with Amy Winehouse back when she still was coherent.” In 2006, he released his debut album These Streets to critical acclaim. At 21, Paolo has got the world on a string. He has a new album coming out by the end of the year, and I cannot wait to put his show as one of my “must go to’s” in ’09.

As the MLB Playoffs begin, many stories dominated the 2008 season. Minus the farewells of Shea and Yankee Stadiums; the retiring of Mike Piazza; the amazing story of Josh Hamilton was the one I felt stood out from the rest. For those of you who did not follow his storybook season, the 27-year old North Continue reading

Here he is… the man who started it all. He is responsible for the sexiness on the ballroom floor. Being married to “The Body” of the sport Edyta Sliwinska and the professional parnter Continue reading

What makes this legacy a cougar prey? I mean, besides the fact he posed with the man himself, Wayne Newton? Simple. He’s cute. Mark Ballas has acquired, in two seasons of Dancing with the Stars, an amazing list of partners. From onetime love Sabrina Bryan and their shocking early elimination in Season 5 to last season’s no questions asked championship with Kristi Yamaguchi; the 22 year old from Houston is gunning for back-to-back victories this season with his celebrity partner…Kim Kardashian. Not many things come from Kosovo that can be considered a piece of art. This man, however is a masterpiece all his own. Tony found his passion in ballroom dancing when he attended Fred Astaire’s Dance Academy. Since then, the 35 year old has acquired fame and fortune in the dance circuit. In Season 2; Tony took Stacy Keibler to the finals (cementing his place in my heart from then on!); learned to have fun and laugh more with Season 6 semi-finalist Marissa Jaret Winokur; and helped Jane Seymour blossom even more into an elegant English rose in Season 5. He even made his acting debut in Richard Gere’s Shall We Dance? and will be featured in the upcoming indie film 355. This season, Tony’s paired with the grande dame of Daytime Susan Lucci. The two of them together just screams perfection and class. I wish those lads over at GQ would realize he is a Man of the Year in his own right. I could just stare at him for hours like one at a Monet exhibit at the Met…
How’s this for multi-tasking? This 28 year old from Ontario plays hockey (duh..Canada!) for the Dallas Stars; found time to romance both Rachel Hunter and Elisha Cuthbert; interned for Vogue; and now apparently has a chance of going Hollywood! The man who made 2007′s Most Beautiful List is now hobknobbing with the Beautiful People at New Line Cinema. His pitch based on his adventures interning this past summer will be seen in theatres at some point in the future. The cast hasn’t been determined yet; but don’t be surprised to see Sean increasing his acting chops. Like the tennis player once said, “Image is everything.” How would you think he’d look with a Bert?
After attending the wedding of the pop‘s Rich Tarantino this past weekend; I saw so much pink my eyes may have temporarily dyed themselves. But the ones who represented were Rich’s groomsmen. Forget the berts; these guys rocked the color and I now saw them all in a new light. Pink is indeed the new black, and as beautiful as the bride was; Allie, Jon, Oren, Rich, Joe, Michael (not pictured), and Mike D. (not pictured and not of the Beasties) took the color to a new level and showed that men can carry themselves in a girly color and still remain gentlemen. Stay classy, guys. I may need a few of you for my nuptials…

While the Phelps Phans worldwide have made themselves known via social networking sites and cell phone ads; the “other guy” making the scene at the Olympics is becoming the newest heartthrob. At 24, Ryan is appearing in his second Olympics; taking home the gold and beating his own world record in the Mens’ 200m Backstroke. And he can say with pride to his grandkids that he stood on the Olympic podium with Phelps. A graduate of University of Florida, Ryan set the precedence in breaking his own records by shattering NCAA times for the Gators as well as for the SEC. He may not be the media focus of the Beijing Games; but Ryan is coming into his own even if he doesn’t have a fetching Bert…
Is this the same fun-loving, comedic, and larger than life other half of the Nickelodeon ‘tween sitcom Drake and Josh ? While most child stars grow up and go by way of a mugshot; this babe decided to continue acting and escape typecasting by appearing alongside Oscar-winning actor (and Bert enthusiast) Ben Kingsley in the indie movie The Wackness. Josh also has made a name for himself by consciously choosing to live a better lifestyle over the years and lose a tremendous amount of weight; hoping to motivate and inspire the kids who look up to him. The Hells Kitchen native, 21, also has expanded his Hollywood credibility by trying his hand at standup, directing, and will be repeating his role as a precocious possum in the next installment of Ice Age:Dawn of the Dinsoaurs. And as for Drake, hopefully he will not be appearing in anymore film parodies…
