Old song, new video. Not sick of either.

I don’t have an ounce of musical talent. I sing off-key. I can’t play any instrument. I have very little rhythm. But, I’m convinced if I pack up my shit and move to Brooklyn – I will instantly gain talent and become a rock star. Why? Because everything out of Brooklyn lately rocks the show. TV on the Radio. Santogold. Trouble Andrew. I could go on a year and a day. I won’t. Next band thriving is Chairlift, whose infectious “Bruises” was played over and over on MacBook commercials. Their album “Does You Inspire You” proves they’re not a one-hit wonder. This indie pop soul album features slow burners like “Planet Health” and the ode to pencils – yes pencils – “Evident Utensil” is a highlight. Caroline Polachek has a soulful voice and when you take that, and throw in cute but smart lyrics – it makes “Does You Inspire You” a special treat. Oh, and “Bruises” is still a good song eventhough it’s played out.
This band is clearly not a one-trick pony. Their follow-up to buzzworthy “Bruises” is a wonderful homage to number two pencils and more. Scantron sheets beware.
