“thecheappop.com is fresh, intelligent, funny and offbeat. I love their interviews, especially the one of me. If you have an Asian fetish, check it out — there are naked pictures of me. Well, I’m naked under my outfit. But I digress…I love thecheappop.com! Thank goodness someone’s approaching pop culture with wit and vim! Is “vim” a word?”
-Suzanne Whang, host of HGTV’s “House Hunters”
“NST” Jon Chattman, a pop culture and mustache expert, created the site in October 2005 as a way to fill the pop culture void (lack thereof) on the Internet. The site regularly features quirky celebrity interviews, tasteful candid celeb photos with inane banter, entertainment reviews, short films, and zany and often self-depreciating humor stories.
Chattman runs the site on top of his full-time job, overseeing a staff of friends and dedicated journalists. Throughout his career, he has regularly written on film and community news for various publications—from weekly community newspapers to national publications like The New York Post, TV Guide and The Huffington Post for over eleven years. He’s covered everything from film premieres to festivals to local elections, and has interviewed a wide range of talent, from Al Gore and Alf to Snoop Dogg and the immortal Dick Van Patten.
He has received numerous promotions and acknowledgments including several writing awards from the New York Press Association (NYPA). He has released three pop culture books.
