The Joy Formidable at Terminal 5 – 3-28-12

This was a night where I came to a show where I never heard the first two bands and never seen any of them Live. I will remember this night for a while though after what I saw! From the First band “Violens” who set a very nice tone to the next band which I have to write about cause this band “A Place to bury Strangers” was simply an experience in its own. A loud noisy rock band with a sound that was all guitar noises and drums blaring your ear drums so loud the amps were murdered by a guitar in the end! The set was all darkness with lights peaking through each cloud of fog and the noise was beautiful in its own way. Photographing this was a challenge but damnit! Bravo to this whole band and what they gave us cause by the end.. when the amps were destroyed!

On to the next band and oh what a treat this was.. The Joy Formidable. Band from North Wales, England. A trio of many talents that came out of a pirate ship. Well the stage was set up like a pirate ship with waves, barrels, and a red lobster suit. Oh yeah a red lobster suit playing drums for the final songs. This was truly a great experience and thank you for an amazing show and night to remember. I have been lucky to photograph bands that are this unique and amazing and I hope you all enjoy it.
