Gin Blossoms: ’90s hitmakers roll on post-’grunge’

Jesse Valenzuela has no problem with his band being dubbed a “chick band.”
“We still have a lot of girls coming to the show, but we did play a lot of fraternities back in the day,” he explained.
Chicks or dudes, it doesn’t matter. Valenzuela’s band the Gin Blossoms will perform at the Ridgefield Playhouse Friday night.
Valenzuela, who has also recorded solo albums, has been with the band since they formed in 1987. They’re known arguably for their killer 1990s pop songs “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You” and “Til I Hear It From You,” all of which are still constantly played on heavy rotation on the radio.
During a recent phone interview from a recording studio, Valenzuela talked about the new record, playing live and how the band survived the “grunge” era.
