Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Week 7
By Lisa Cannavo
If it wasn’t for the flu..Lacey Schwimmer wouldn’t have to had Anna Trebunskaya and Tony Dovolani help train Mark Dacascos this week;eventually pairing with Anna on Monday night’s Samba..the result was nothing short of a mess;but given an oppurtunity to redeem himself for the judges during the Dance-off; it was safe to say that following his eventual elimination, the Iron Chef cooked himself a memorable performance and left on top of his game for the show.
(Final score-19/30). Michael Irvin’s reputation as The Playmaker prompted him and Anna to revisit his showmanship days in the NFL. His swan song Foxtrot was elegant and classy;full of fluid and graciousness..however,the fans felt his time was up and no more Hail Mary passes could help deliver him another week. Another bitter pill to swallow…longtime NFL frenemy Jerry Rice scored 1 point highter than he did when performing this dance. (Final score-23/30). With the return of the dueling powerful dances of Team Tango (Donny,Joanna,Kelly) vs Team Paso Doble (Aaron,Mya,Mark,Michael); it was a scorching night of competition that proved that the Tango did indeed trump the Paso Doble with precision, unity, and form. Tango:28/30;Paso Doble 24/30).
Joanna/Derek (Rumba): The duo continued to show their hammy side with a cute little montage that even Joanna’s fiance got a kick out of (the man has to be a saint after this season). Once more, the model is continuing her quest for that trophy with another pretty and effective;albeit contrived routine. (27/30).
Donny/Kym (Quickstep): Another one struck with the flu, the First Son of Showmanship soldiered on with a solid routine that showed him dealing with the family blessed “Osmond Slouch” woth his posture; what amazes everyone about him is how even when the mistakes are made he covers up and continues his full on attack to master the dance. (24/30).
Aaron/Karina (Jive): Hoping to continue his Back in Judges’ Graces Comeback Tour; Aaron delivered a kick ass and fast paced routine (see above) that even a certain crumudgeon head judge decided to break out his “10″ paddle. However, not even the near perfect night where a ballroom dance to a Twisted Sister song could help him be safe..the duo wound up in the Dance-off against Mark/Lacey;but delivered another near perfect routine. (29/30).
Mya/Dmitry (Foxtrot): The first time the duo danced this dance (Week 1); good old Len broke out the “5″ paddle..so the duo wanted to prove they were classy and elegant. Now who better to help set the mood than to bring the foremost expert on that era? You got it..Cloris Leachman (drink!) Tales of dinner parties with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire inspired the duo tio capture The Golden Age of Cinema that was beautiful and with fantastic timing…and then an apparent crack smoking Len decided that yet again; the season’s original front runner was disappointing with the gimmicks that were not needed. (25/30).
Kelly/Louis (Salsa): Another week, another dose of emotional turmoil for Kelly; as tensions came to a boil. It was bound to happen..Louis put the pressure on Kelly and it took its toll..even having her request to stop filming the prep work video. But once the routine started, the mini freak out was nowhere to be seen as she once again came out of her shell and went for it. (24/30).
