If Kenickie were around today, you’d think Rizzo would kick his ass??
It was too good to be true. At least with Jeff Conanway, that is. Being the Last Man Suffering Through Detox has taken a dramatic turn. A yoga session with his private instructor saw Jeff breaking down and wanting out. When told by Dr. Drew it would be in his best interest to forget another back surgery and focus on physical therapy and recovery; Jeff decided he was being held against his will and did what any other celebrity would do on a reality show or to wind up on TMZ..call Pasadena’s Finest.
In the Land of Busey, it was relatively quiet this week, seeing him only as an extra and silent supporter through individual situations and group meetings. The big story was Amber. The model/actress decided to go along with Dr. Drew and stage an intervention for her mother..a fan of Pamela Anderson who in her mind is a “real woman”. Boys and girls, this is why drugs are bad for you…Ms. Smith was a little apprehensive about going to a rehab facility and suffering through detox; considering herself a “disappointment to her generation” when realizing that it wouldn’t be a quick fix on her road to recovery. The concerns over wanting to end her life and the sadness she had over how her daughter turned out made Mom Smith agree to be admitted; making Amber the happiest she has been since her arrival.
The relationship between moms and addicts was a big theme this week..as the patients know how it was easy for them to go to their moms with issues/problems; and some see them as an outlet for their use (Steven/Amber/Nikki/Tawny). During an emotional group meting, Tawny tearfully confessed that she was a victim of sexual abuse as a pre-adolescent; and how that could have affected her relations over the years. Nikki’s guilt over her mom’s death continues as she physically heals; the emotional scars are still in festering mode. Next week sees Steven confront his mom over the incident that changed his life as a young man..and the fallout when Jeff calls 911. Did anyone catch that hesitation Rodney had as the show ended when he saw the cops arrive?
