In the midst of the annual Fall Classic, I’m taking the time to honor the men of the respective teams playing. For the Philadelphia Phillies, Jayson Werth is nothing short of an athletic legend. His stepdad played for both the Royals and the Yankees; his grandpop played for the 1960 World Series Champions Pittsburgh Pirates; and his uncle played for the Mets as well as the ‘93 Toronto Blue Jays (another World Series title). The 29-year-old right fielder definitely has his work cut out for him: could another title make it home to this family?  Before signing with the Phillies in December ‘07, Jayson played for such teams as the Dodgers and (keeping it in the family) the Blue Jays. His mom also ran track and field in the US Olympic Trials back in the day.  This has been a banner year for Jayson and as the Series continues, I’m hoping to see more of Jayson’s dazzling abilities on the turf and trust me when I say he will be sticking around the City of Brotherly Love.
