Album Review – The Bosch’s “Hurry Up”

By Jon Chattman | December 28th, 2007

Enjoyable EP by The Bosch
By Helen Horn-Mitchem

The Bosch’s second release, an EP entitled “Hurry Up,” is immediately appealing. Spirited with catchy lyrics, the disc lives up to its name with only seven tracks, most of which clock in under three minutes. These short run times serve the album well, making sure the catchy songs don’t turn bland from being played too long. The result is a collection of tracks that are all solid enjoyable productions. The band seems aware of its limits and doesn’t overreach itself. You almost wish you could feel them stretching a little more, exploring their music instead of just making it. The few exceptions to this include the only instrumental track, “Counting,” which seems to be going in several different directions at once and thoroughly enjoying itself as it does. The presence of “Counting” highlights just how much untapped potential this new-ish band has, especially when it ventures outside its self-produced boundaries.
